When delving into the creativity behind the movie, we found that the London-based Barbie production designer, Sarah Greenwood, and set decorator, Katie Spence drew inspiration from two distinct and influential sources: the legendary photographer Slim Aarons and the timeless elegance of Palm Springs' mid-century modernism. Aarons' iconic images embody the glamorous and carefree lifestyle of the jet-set elite and mid-century modern architecture of Palm Springs is known for its sleek lines, bold shapes, and vibrant colours. By infusing these elements into our Barbie collection, with 60’s style floral patterned velvet and bold pinks we have created a seamless fusion of modern elegance and retro charm.
