Self Help Measuring Guide

Worried that your new furniture may not fit through the door?

Our self help guide has been written to remove any uncertainty, offering advice on everything from measuring doorways and staircases to adjusting dimensions to account for packaging.

Firstly

Carefully measure the space where you intend to place your new piece, taking into account any fixed widths or architectural elements that may present potential obstructions.

Next, check the route through your home

Consider fixtures & fittings

When measuring the height and width of doorways and hallways, be mindful of any handles, trims, skirting, and handrails that cannot be easily removed. It’s also wise to consider alternative routes, such as back or side doors, or even garages.

Measuring stairs

Carefully measure the width of your stairways and the depth of landings, accounting for any banisters. We also recommend taking precise measurements from the top and bottom of the stairs to the wall, as well as the ceiling height from both the bottom and top step, including the clearance from the landing to the ceiling.

Lift Access

Should a lift be necessary to access your home, we recommend measuring both the height and depth of the lift door, as well as the diagonal distance from the centre bottom of the door to the back ceiling. Be sure to note any available clearance to ensure a seamless fit.

Compare your measurements

Carefully compare the precise measurements you've taken within your home to the dimensions of your selected piece. These are available on our product pages, please allow an extra 5 - 10cm for the packaging. Pay particular attention to the depth of the item, ensuring that its width and height are comfortably smaller than the stairways, hallways, and doorways it must pass through.

Clear the path

Remove any fixtures that may obstruct the delivery path, including lighting, ceiling fixtures, artwork, rugs, decorative accessories, and plants, ensuring an effortless and seamless placement of your new piece.
